This is a 30-hour online course. The aim of this course is to introduce students to human anatomy and physiology, with emphasis on the systems of the body and how they are interrelated. This course follows a sequential development of the major body systems in an organized and structured curriculum. The course is designed to give the students an overview of human anatomical structures and an analysis of human physiological principles. To receive a certificate of completion, students must achieve at least a grade of C.

MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY ONLINE

Medical Terminology Online — 30 Hours

This is a 30-hour online course. Medical Terminology introduces the student to the medical terminology used in the medical coding and reimbursement profession, and covers medical terminology and anatomy from a coder’s perspective. The focus is to enable students to use this specialized language in a professional health care environment and in scholarly and professional writing. To receive a certificate of completion, students must achieve at least a grade of C.

MEDICAL BILLING AND REIMBURSEMENT ONLINE ​

Medical Billing and Reimbursement Online — 80 Hours

This is an 80-hour online course. The student will learn principles of medical billing related to proper claim form preparation, submission and payment processing, and the follow up process. This course is recommended for anyone who is preparing for a career in a medical billing department at a physician’s office, clinic or similar positions. To receive certificate of completion, students must achieve a passing score of C or higher and complete the course within 18 weeks.

MEDICAL CODING I Online — 80 Hours

This is an 80-hour online course. Students will learn principles of medical coding related to the three main code books: CPT®, ICD-10-CM Volumes 1 & 2 and HCPCS Level II. This course is recommended for anyone who is preparing for a career in medical coding for a physician’s office. To receive certificate of completion, students must achieve a passing score of C or higher and complete the course within 18 weeks.

MEDICAL CODING II Online

Medical Coding II Online — 80 Hours

This is an 80-hour online course. This course teaches facility coding for the hospital setting. This course will cover coding fundamentals including CPT®, ICD-10-CM Volumes 1, 2, & 3, and HCPCS Level II coding, along with the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) which is the payment method used by most payers in outpatient facilities. To receive certificate of completion, students must achieve a passing score of C or higher and complete the course within 18 weeks.

These online courses are independent self-study with no classroom meetings; students may login to their course on their own time schedule, and there are no specific login times. Students may email and/or call during office hours with course content questions for course instructors. The instructional methods used include reading assignments, practice exercises and other assignments, audio/video lectures, chapter review exams, and a final exam.
